MONASTERO DEI FRATI BIANCHI

The Monastero dei Frati Bianchi winery began its history in the early 2000s with the desire to bring back to life the vineyards that once belonged to the ancient monastery of Monte dei Bianchi.

Living and working in Lunigiana means accepting a challenge of steep slopes and hard-working soil, suspended between the peaks of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, the strength of the Apuan Alps, and the embrace of the Ligurian Sea.

The winery’s mission is to “guard time”: each row of vines reflects respect for the past and the desire to pass on ancient knowledge through careful, sustainable, and innovative cultivation techniques.

Production therefore focuses on enhancing and celebrating historic grape varieties such as

Pollera: the essence of local elegance

Barsaglina: character and structure that speak of the terroir

Albarola: pronounced savory flavor and mineral freshness

Durella: vibrant acidity

Alongside these native varieties, Monastero dei Frati Bianchi cultivates international varieties:

Syrah, Merlot, and Chardonnay, which express surprising strength and aromatic richness.

La Rocca is the beating heart of the winery. This ancient structure, which once overlooked the Lunigiana valleys, has been expertly restored and transformed into a center dedicated to hospitality and wine culture. Surrounded by greenery, it offers a suspended atmosphere where time slows down. It is the ideal place for those seeking a sensory experience that goes beyond simple tasting.
