CAMPO ALLE COMETE was acquired in February 2016 by Feudi di San Gregorio. The name is an antique toponym from this area, which disappeared since a long time. When we discovered it in some historical books of the region, we knew immediately that the name reflects precisely the philosophy we want to express. 21 hectares of vineyards, 15 bought and 6 rented: the varieties Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Petit Verdot, planted between 1993 and 2007 are all written into the Bolgheri DOC registry. The type of soil is mostly loose/sandy with some clay and a part of limestone. The mild temperatures, constant winds and significant temperature gap between day and night create ideal conditions for a balanced growth of the vines and an excellent grape maturation. The result are healthy grapes, favored by a lower attack of botrytis and diseases. Their aromatic, intense scent and their mature, fine tannins characterize the wines and creates a good pleasantness even at an early age. There excellent freshness and the low content of acidity balances perfectly with a good mineral and lightly salty aftertaste.
