The Usiglian del Vescovo has existed for ten centuries and is located close to the village of Palaia on the Valdera hills and near the Tyrrhenian coast. A unique terroir in the heart of Tuscany with a particularly favorable microclimate and a unique soil, the ancient waters of a prehistoric ocean, rich in marine fossils and characterized by sand and medium textured silt.
The proximity of the Tyrrhenian makes the optimal environment for viticulture with a regular rainfall, the constant ventilation and hot summers but mitigated by night temperatures. The vines here enjoy special conditions that give unique and exceptional wine flavor and freshness.
Today the estate covers an area of almost 160 hectares, 22 hectares of vineyards on which stand vineyards of Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Chardonnay and Viognier and 15 hectares of olive groves.
The production is organic and 100% made within the company, enhancing what spontaneously nature has given to the soil in its slow evolution.
Guided tours of the Usiglian del Vescovo Estate allow you to taste the wines and savor the emotions associated with visiting the vineyards and cellars, with the suggestive barrique cellar located in the ancient medieval buildings, inside which a long tunnel can still be visited once used as an escape route in the event of a siege.
Possibility of choosing between various taste itineraries. Booking also from www.usigliandelvescovo.it.
