The most historic part of Fattoria del Colle is a hermitage still visible today in the winery. There were problems between the church and the Socinis. Lelio (1525-1562) and Fausto (1539-1604) were among the major exponents of the Protestant Reformation. The church excommunicated them confiscated all of the family’s properties including Fattoria del Colle. It was later bought back for the family after three hundred years by Livio Socini in 1919. Here there are 336 hectares on the hills looking towards Montalcino, the Chianti Classico territories and the area of the Nobile di Montepulciano. From this land the white truffle is born, as is an extraordinary extra virgin olive oil. In Fattoria del Colle there are 160 hectares of grains, 6 hectares of olive grove and 16 of vineyard of several varieties including Sangiovese, Merlot, Traminer and Foglia Tonda. Donatella Cinelli Colombini produces here Chianti Superiore and Doc Orcia wines. The farmhouse is in Tuscany, South of Siena, it is made up 18 apartments, two swimming pools, a tennis court, rooms with private bathroom, a villa with private swimminpool, a restaurant, a cooking school and a spa.
How to get there
In Tuscany, 100 km south of Florence.Take the Val di Chiana exit on the A1 highway. Continue then towards the village of Sinalunga (10km) then for the village of Trequanda (6km). When you are close to Trequanda, take the road that goes up towards the village on the left side – not the one that is straight in front of you where the historical centre of Trequanda is found. On the top of the hill where you will find the Police station (Carabinieri) turn right, after 100 metres you will find a small crossroads (before this you will find a brown sign indicating COLLE – the locality) and, keeping the left side take the route that goes down hill. 2 km out of Trequanda, take the dirt track on the left signposted Fattoria del Colle (1km).
