Podere Ema, born from the desire to transmit years of passion, experience and love for Tuscan wine. The company produces great wines using exclusively indigenous grapes, which enhance and reinforce the concept of “Puro Toscano”.
Our grapes are the result of years of research in collaboration with the University of Florence to rediscover and enhance ancient autochthonous varieties with more than 300 years of history.
The vinification and refining of the grapes takes place in the Terracotta Giare di Impruneta, then worked in the same land where the vineyards are cultivated, to reaffirm and enhance the peculiarities of the territory and tradition as a whole and give a unique identity to the wines. The land in which the plants grow is the same land that enhances the minerality during processing, leaving as far as possible the peculiarities of the vine.
This is how Fogliatonda was born, produced with 100% Foglia Tonda grapes, an ancient, centuries-old Tuscan variety, rediscovered and appreciated for its oenological potential. The “Podere Ema” bottles are in limited production and numbered by hand to reinforce the exclusivity of their wines. Podere Ema is located in Grassina, a few kilometers from Florence at an altitude of 250 meters in the hills of the Florentine Chianti, the vineyards have South-East exposure, the soils are of calcareous clay and the area is characterized by rather cold winters and pretty hot summers.
