With Casisano in Montalcino in 2015, the Tommasi Family Estates project was crowned, which started in 1997, with the entry of the fourth generation of the family into the company. The philosophy, particularly in Montalcino, is to maintain the prestige of the territory, preserving its identity and trying to best express its potential. Casisano is a splendid natural terrace at 480 m above sea level and dominates the south-east area of the Montalcino area, in front of Sant’Angelo in Colle and the Abbey of Sant’Antimo, in the direction of Monte Amiata. The soil is composed of sandstone and marl rocks with the presence of skeleton, clay and tuff of volcanic origin. The total surface area is 53 hectares, of which 22 are vineyards and 12 are olive groves. 9 hectares are dedicated to the production of Brunello, 7 hectares to Rosso and the other 6 hectares to the Sant’Antimo denomination. The estate is entirely cultivated with Sangiovese Grosso, with the traditional spurred cordon and is divided into 10 parcels. The grapes for Brunello Riserva Colombaiolo are selected from the oldest plot of approximately 2 hectares.
