The Colombini are an ancient lineage that has held public offices in Siena since the first decades of the year one thousand, and has owned properties in Montalcino since 1352. A continuity that speaks for itself of the love for this land, for its history and its magnificent wines. We have always produced Brunello and, curiously, the first documents of wine sales from Fattoria dei Barbi concern an export to France in 1817 to the present day, a testimony of unique continuity in Italy. With our Brunello we have received awards throughout Europe from the end of the 19th century until today, and Fattoria dei Barbi was a pioneer both in oenology and in the wine trade with some significant results: first mail order sale of wine (1936) , first exports of Brunello to America (1962), throughout Europe and Japan, first “Super Tuscan” (Brusco dei Barbi”, 1969), first single-variety grappa (grappa di Brunello, 1974). Our cellar, with its over 500 wooden barrels and thousands of bottles of Brunello from many different vintages, is open to the public with the possibility of visits, from Monday to Friday, at 12:00 and 15:00. The total production is approximately 700,000 bottles, of which approximately 200,000 of Brunello, and the vineyards extend over an area of ninety hectares. The soils are very varied, especially marl with the presence of clay.

From Montalcino follow the signs for Castenuovo dell’Abate / Abbazia di Sant’Antimo, after about 4 kilometers turn left. From Florence, Florence-Siena highway, Siena Sud exit, take the “Cassia” in the direction of Buonconvento. From Rome, exit A1 Chiusi, take the “Cassia” in the direction of Siena, exit Montalcino
